Now was that really necessary? I don’t think so.
This is how I feel about Maher in general. While I might agree with his opinions on a lot of issues, I cannot stomach his mean-spirited ugliness.
With the media spending days pointing out the Republicans’ nastiness and examining how dangerous violent words can be, do we really need Maher saying… well, I can’t even repeat it now, can I?

Be nice, Bill Maher

Maher’s a smartass, and sometimes, an asshole as well.
As I said in comments the other day, I’ll concede that smartassery isn’t “nice”.
But it ain’t in the same league with faxing drawings of nooses to Congressional offices, cutting gas lines, or even spitting on people. There’s a huge gulf between Maher’s metaphorical “violent” words, and death threats. So on this we’ll just have to continue to agree to disagree.
(If you hadn’t posted this video, I was going to – but I probably would have only added a snarky comment.)
