Today in PENIS News…
You’d think a copy editor might have spotted that.
I’ve got several more substantial posts waiting to be written…sorry for the light posting but the new business has been sucking my time like a vampire. Which would be fine if I was getting paid, but I am not at the moment. So I alternate back and forth between working my ass off and worrying myself silly about how to get by until September. These next few months until school (and our opportunity to generate revenue) starts up for fall are gonna be lean AND mean…with all of the “this and that” I expect to be doing just to get by it’s going to be busy. And that’s before the REAL work starts back in the fall.

Wow, especially since those “head” shots are rather phallic looking all in a row.
Also, too: the third guy’s name appears to be “Mancum”.
Coincidence?
Well, I’m no slouch, but it took me a couple of scans, & I was looking for something. The other thought is that it was deliberate: Perhaps a filthy-minded Scrabble player at work?
What, wait, these are ‘farewell columns’ from ‘senior staff’ who are retiring or being retired? Who may be familiar with their columns being printed in a particular order?
If it were me in that position then it would NEVER OCCUR TO ME to have fun with acronyms.
This is not an uncommon thing — it was most likely intentional, and I’d guess the staff members were taking packages during a “reduction in force.” And this is what happens when papers reduce their force. Every J-school student is taught to check for this kind of thing.
When the Washington Star was in its death throes, it reprinted some long official document that the Post had gotten its hands on and run first. This thing, whatever it was, was run in segments, so that the Star would print what the Post had run the previous day.
When the Post realized what the Star was up to, it arranged the drop caps in that day’s excerpt to spell “HI MURRAY,” a reference to the Star’s editor (don’t recall his last name). The Star responded by running the excerpt the next day with the drop caps spelling “HA HA BEN” (Bradlee, of course).
I missed Jennifer.
heh heh it took me a loooong time to see it. Old and decrepit? Not me.
