There He Goes Again
Here’s how his latest piece opens:
There is an old saying in the Middle East that a camel is a horse that was designed by a committee.
Really? Because I kind of doubt it. “Designed by committee” is a metaphor used to explain why things are poorly designed and don’t work as well as they should – it’s because a lot of competing agendas had to be addressed to get the thing done, and the compromises made to accomodate those agendas rendered the final product less than optimal.
Would you use that phrase to describe the animal most suited to providing utility in your environment?
No, of course you wouldn’t.
Sounds like Tommy got flim-flammed by another cab-driver.
Yeah, Tom, old Middle Eastern proverbs typically reflect the idiom of late 20th Century Western corporate culture.
What a moran (sic)! The NYT really has this crap behind their paywall?
And yet this clown is a genius compared to Ross “Chunky Bobo” Douchebag.
I can’t see that paywall being anything other than a fiasco. I can read Krugman and get by with the 20/month free limit.

Well, it is an old saying … but I doubt very seriously that it’s an old saying from the Middle East.
Uh oh. Safety glasses and lab coats on everyone! I think that we may have a Friedman “joke” here. You have to think so, for your own sanity. He would have tried it out on the footmen and the kitchen staff at Castle Tom who would have all laughed, dutifully wondering “Why TF do I work for him, and not other way around”
